A young man of about 32, ran amok at Ezere in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State and shot one of his sisters-in-law.
Nigerian Pilot gathered from a good source that the unbecoming incident took place at the late hours of January 2, 2016.
According to the source, the young man who is now in Police detention, got the beating of his life from an elder brother to his former wife, Uju and swore to deal decisively with him.
Cause of the problem, Nigerian Pilot gathered, is that the suspect had been keeping late night and is suspected to be a cultist, his former wife, Uju refused to marry him and the family was forced to refund her bride price.
It was gathered that the elder brother to the estranged wife got angry to learn that the suspect continued to pay amorous visits to his former wife and went and beat him up.
The suspect who felt humiliated, went to his house not too far away from his former in-laws house and came back with a loaded gun.
On sighting him, the elder sister to the estranged wife, accosted him and asked him where he was going with a gun at that odd hour, and he said he was going to shoot their brother for beating him up because he visited their compound.
It was at that stage that the lady began to plead with their former in-law to go home but instead, he turned the rifle on her and shot her on the thigh.
When the suspect saw what he did, he ran away but was later found and taken to a Police station in Awgu while the lady was taken to a hospital where the bullet was said to have been removed.
Nigerian Pilot was informed that the suspect who had collected back the bride price, was visiting his former wife secretly on the pretence that he was bringing Christmas and New Year present to his son who is with his former wife.
This did not go down well with the elder brother of his former wife, Uju, because he felt that the suspect was patronising her when he had received back his dowry and this resulted in the beating that sparked the shooting.
Nigerian Pilot tried frantically to get the Police Image Maker, Ebere Amaraizu to comment on the incident but it was not possible at the time of filing this report as he would neither answer calls nor reply to text message.
