The whereabouts of a four-year-old boy who was reported stolen from his parent in Akure, the Ondo State capital, is what the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, CIID, of Ondo State Police Command is trying to unravel.
A police source hinted that the victim, Sunday Daniel, was taken by an unknown person while he was playing with his mates at Alaba Sawmill area, along Ondo Road in Akure last Thursday According to information, a man who used to patronise the mother of the victim who sells alcoholic drinks along the road was believed to have stolen the child.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wole Ogodo said the mother of the boy identified as Maria Sunday reported the case of a missing child to Afesowapo Police Post located in the area.
According to him, the mother of the child in her statement complained that she suspected a man she said usually bought alcoholic drinks from her.
Ogodo disclosed that on receiving the information, the police swung into action, but all efforts to rescue the victim have so far been fruitless.
While saying the police would employ all strategies to rescue the victim, Ogodo advised parents to always look after their children to avoid this kind of situation.
He assured the family that efforts were on top gear to arrest the culprit and bring the boy to his parents.
