Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, has advised elected politicians to rise to the challenge of fulfilling campaign promises or be chased out from office by 2019.
Speaking at the launching for sale of fertiliser at Kafinsoli Farm Service Centre, Masari said elected politicians should not use the slogan ‘change’ to deceive the electorate for selfish political interest.
Instead, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives urged them to work their campaign promises stressing that Nigerian are now enlightened and conscious of the power of their votes and are equally capable of using it to vote out non-performing elected officials.
He said his administration was aware of promises made during election campaigns and will work to fulfil such promises.
Masari said government would give priority to agriculture to reduce poverty and empower people noting that government would provide improved seeds to farmers to boost food production. The governor further assured farmers of providing them with enough and affordable fertiliser.
Earlier, permanent secretary in the ministry of agriculture, Lawal Sada Mani said each bag of fertiliser would be sold to farmers at the cost of N1,780. Mani said the commodity would be sold at each polling unit, warning that anybody diverting the commodity would be dealt with.
