Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko said his administration was creating future intellectual giants through the introduction of the Mega Schools concept in the state.
Mimiko disclosed this on Wednesday while inaugurating Saint Francis Caring Heart Mega Primary School, Owaluwa ,in Owo.
He said the concept of the mega primary school was a deliberate intervention to ensure that every child has access to quality education in the state.
Mimko also said his administration was building foundational education that will make the pupils globally competitive, adding that he will build sub urban primary schools in each community in the state.
He said the greatest danger was that of inequality in the access to quality education which he said his administration was tackling and promised that he will not relent in the task of improving all facets of the economy.
Mimiko, who vowed that the state will take its pride and become an intellectual power house in Nigeria, said inclusive development, was the right way for Nigeria to attain greatness.
He said his government will continue to provide access to quality and affordable education to bridge the gap between the rich and downtrodden in the society.
The governor used the occasion to announced the approval for the construction of another Mega Primary School in Owo township as work was ongoing at the one at Uso in Owo local government area of the state.
In his goodwill message, the special guest at the occasion, an Afenifere chieftain , Senator Femi Okunroumu appreciated the governor for his giant stride in the education sector of the state.
He said the governor was rebuilding public schools in the state to serve as model to others, adding that Mimiko has demonstrated high quality leadership and enjoined him to continue, and extend it to other parts of Yoruba land.
Olowo of Owo Kingdom, Oba Victor Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi thanked the governor for his contribution to the growth of Owo Kingdom and by extension, the entire state.
