About six persons yesterday lost their
lives in a midnight inferno, at a residence
in Jos the Plateau State capital.
The inferno which was said to have
started at about 2:00 hours, after electricity
was restored.
According to a member of the deceased’s
family, the restoration of light, “came in
high current and later sparked and ignited
the fire.”
The deceased our correspondent
gathered were grandsons and daughter
of late Dr. Dalhatu Arab, and also his
daughter-in-law, married to Alhaji Ahmed
Dalhatu Arab.
Those who died in the fire were Mrs.
Habiba Ahmed Dalhatu; Dalhatu Ahmed,
5; Maryam Ahmed, 3 and Ahmed Ahmed
Dalhatu, 1.
The other two deceased persons were
the younger sister to Ahmad’s wife, Ms.
Rukayya Umar Hamza, 8 as well as their
housemaid, Ms. Maryam.
Head of the deceased’s family, Alhaji
Ahmed, popularly known as Sarki, told
our correspondent at his family residence
that he was away when it all happened.
