JOHN OBI MIKEL is set to leave Chelsea in January, according to bookmakers Betway. The 29-year-old was on international duty with Nigeria at the Olympic Games during the start of the campaign and has not featured for the Blues since returning. Mikel, who joined Chelsea in 2006, acknowledged it will be difficult for him to force his way back into Antonio Conte’s team after missing pre-season and opened the door on a move to the MLS. CHELSEA have shown weaknesses in defence so it would make sense if Antonio Conte turned to the January transfer window to fix his problems. Betway price him at just 10/11 to be off when the transfer window reopens. Cesc Fabregas is another player
whose future is up in the air after being consigned to the bench by Conte and Betway have him at 6/4 to leave in January. Betway’s Alan Alger said: “Cesc Fabregas was handed his chance in the starting XI against Arsenal on Saturday and he’ll be bitterly disappointed with the outcome against his former club. “It’s up for debate as to whether Fabregas fits into Antonio Conte’s future plans and we’re 6/4 for the Spaniard to exit Stamford Bridge in January. “John Obi Mikel has been frozen out of the squad entirely this season and he heads our market of potential Chelsea leavers at 8/11. “Oscar comes third in the betting at 7/2, with Branislav Ivanovic close behind at 6/1.
