Urhobo Gbagbako, a group of militants yesterday issued a fresh threat to blast more Oil pipelines should the National Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, Federal government and Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, fail to comply with their demands to award to them the Oil Pipeline Surveillance Contract Job.
It will be recalled that same group had requested to be awarded the Oil Pipeline Surveillance Contract Job which runs through the twenty-four kingdoms of the Urhobo nation.
They had also blown up major oil facilities and pipelines in the Ekiugbo, Ighwerenene/Afiesere, Erhoike/Kokori/Orogun, Ogor, Kwale and Isoko in Ughelli North, Isoko and Ndokwa local government areas between March and April, 2015.
Spokesman of the militants, Priest Omodjuvwu in a statement, admitted how they attacked the Ogor Oil trunk-line at the early morning of Sunday, April 19, 2015, which inferno was put off by the fire department the following day.
The militants also warned NPDC, NNPC and the federal government not to go into any negotiation with any group identified as ‘HOSTCOM’, describing the group as impostors and should be disregarded, as it does not have the mandate of Urhobo extraction to represent them.
The group said, “For every day that passes, a new dimension shall be taken over the pipeline surveillance contract demand as a way of punishment for the complete disdain and hatred the shameless gang had continued to demonstrate towards the Urhobo ethnic nationality.
“We didn’t give impostors the mandate to speak on our behalf no matter their connections in high places. We are not unmindful of the total shutdown of crude oil production in oml 26, 30, 34 covering Urhobo, Isoko and Kwale with a combine loss of over 800,000 barrel per day of crude oil since our last attack of the Ighrenene/Afiesere/Ekiugbo major Oil Trunk-line on April 3rd this year.
“We have identified these targeted assets to worth billions of naira to both NPDC & SHORELINE. Be rest assured that we remain committed to fighting this unfair treatment of our people to a logical conclusion until justice is done.”
