Nigerian military has said it would require the co-operation of experts in information management to effectively fight insurgency and other criminal activities that have so far constituted serious case of terrorism in the country.
Acting Director Defense Information, DDI, Colonel Rabel Abubakar stated this while on a courtesy visit to the permanent secretary, Ministry of Information, Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan, on Monday in Abuja.
Abubakar said he was on the visit to particularly seek collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Information which is expected to have experienced information experts who could help the military in the fight to redeem the nation from abuse by lawless individuals.
“I am here in person to seek collaboration with the ministry and the information management team of the armed forces, as it is well known that the country is facing very difficult time in the North-East, North-West and other parts of the country.
“As we all are aware, information management is key in the fight against insurgence and terrorists. There is, therefore, need for us to follow the information channel in this fight.”
In her welcome remark, the permanent secretary said they had been waiting for this opportunity for long and expressed optimism that the sought collaboration would mark a very good beginning and a good relationship between the Defense Headquarters and the Federal Ministry of Information.
Dr Yemi-Esan argued that it was very important to get adequate information that would be good for every Nigerian.
