Minister for National Planning, Dr Abubakar Suleiman, has urged the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Razaq Atunwa to call his supporters to order not to cause chaos among party supporters in Ilorin, the state capital.
The Special Assistant to the minister on Finance, Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Limidi Busari, in a statement issued in Ilorin yesterday disclosed that the warning came in the wake of a political wrangling allegedly caused at his compound, Okekere/Abemi in Ilorin West Local Government last Saturday, by some supporters of the speaker from Asa, a sister local government.
He also urged the speaker to call his supporters to order, said :“the speaker’s supporters, who obviously are of the APC came to our family compound, through my half sister, Hajia Qudirat (who is the secretary to Asa LGEA) to remove our PDP banner strategically mounted at our family compound.
“But to their shock and dismay, some PDP supporters resisted the move and in the process a mild misunderstanding between the council secretary and another sibling ensued. Of course, as typical of such a scenario, one is bound to be injured and in this case it was Qudirat.
“But while I was trying to make peace among the lots, Atunwa’s supporters went viral on social network that I injured my sister during the melee. This is sheer falsehood that can’t fly any day, anytime. The truth is that they are intimidated by the weekly meeting of PDP members, numbering over 500 in our house and this has become a kind of embarrassment to their boss (Atunwa) whose family compound shares the same fence with mine.”
Rather than resorting to violence, Busari continued, “let them also come up with their own group and meeting and see whether they would achieve such feat. For us, we will not provoke anybody, just as we will not also like to be provoked.”
