Minister of Health, Professor Issac Adewole has called on health workers in the country to have empathy on patients as a way of ensuring safe and efficient health care services.
This was contained in a press release sent to Nigerian Pilot yesterday from the ministry.
According to the release, Adewole made this call when he visited the Irrua Specialist Hospital in Edo State.
Meanwhile, at the annual general meeting of the Nigeria Medical Association, Edo Central Zone, held at the hospital, the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Osagie Enshrine further emphasised the need for health officers to key seriously into the change policy of the present administration in the country, adding that the “change is a change of direction, a change for transformation and a change for the better.”
Enahire said that with the dwindling price of oil in the international market and limited government resources, new initiatives must be brought to bear to complement government’s effort.
On strike, the minister said that the federal government would engage the NMA and other unions in the sector in order to avert crisis.
This strategy, he posited, will ensure industrial harmony in the health sector.
He commended the Dr. Okogbenin-led management, staff and unions in the hospital for their co-operation with the management of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.
