To improve access to clean and safe water in the country, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Mrs. Rabi Jimeta over the weekend commissioned Bether Premium water factory in Nasarawa State.
Speaking during the commissioning, Mrs Jimeta stated that the importance of water to humanity cannot be overemphasized.
“The event is an important mile stone in the provision of safe water. It singles out the beginning of good things to come in respect to accessibility to potable water supply, job creation and community development.”
In his address, the Chief Executive Officer, Bether Premium Water, Major A.A Eniang said the company was borne out of the desire to provide access to potable drinking water and the need to create job opportunity for youths.
“We realize that the challenge of providing potable drinking water to all remains a mirage if it is left in the hands of the government alone.”
He added, “different kinds of epidemic ravaging and threatening the life of many community are traceable to inadequate water supply and the drinking of untreated water fetched from streams, lagoons, potholes and local boreholes where they are available”.
Major Eniang further stated that the objective of the company is not only to provide portable drinking water for all at competitive cost, but to also ensure high quality in the production process in tandem with global best practices by employing modern technology and latest equipment in the water production process.
“Our vision is to become one of the global leading companies in water provision fit for human consumption in Nigeria, while ensuring that all human, material and technological procedures are strictly and continually adhered to and in most hygienic and certified environment for production.”
For his part, Emir of Nasarawa State, HRH Alh. Islamia Muhammed appreciated the gesture and said it will help in the development of the community.
