The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of nine suspects in connection with the violence that erupted in Misau last Thursday after the appointment of the 11th Emir of Misau by the state government.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Muhammad, yesterday, said the arrest was made following a rampage by about 1000 youths whom the Police said created chaos and disrupted peace in the area.
DSP Haruna Muhammad, who warned individuals or groups that may intend to cause further havoc to the society to desist from such act, said the Police would intensify patrol within the town to ensure that peace and order are maintained in the area.
He assured that security agencies would not fold its arms and allow some disgruntled elements to foment trouble and breach peace in the society.
It could be recalled that some youths went on rampage burning vehicles and tyres to protest the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Sulaiman, former SSG in the State as the 11 Emir of Misau.
Already state government has imposed a curfew from 6 pm to 6 am within the town and directed security to deal with any violators of the law.
