The much awaited aircraft belonging to Bauchi State bought by the former administration of Alhaji Ahmad Mu’azu has finally arrived Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport.
The aircraft with registration number 5M BGM that was said to have been discovered in Morocco, arrived at the Bauchi airport at exactly 9:55 a.m. on Friday and was received by the state deputy Governor Engr. Nuhu Gidado, SSG Alhaji Bello Shehu Ilelah and Head of Service, Mr Abdon Dalla Gin.
The captain of the Aircraft, Captain Edward Boyo, took the top government officials round the 50-seater aircraft that arrived from Kano State where the Deputy Governor told journalists that the present administration did not spend anything on the aircraft contrary to insinuation that the administration had spent huge sum of money on its maintenance.
He said the focus of the state government after the arrival of the plane to Bauchi would be how it will generate revenue for the state.
On the invitation of the former governor Isa Yuguda by the EFCC on the aircraft, the Deputy Governor said he is not aware if the former governor was invited, but stated that the state government is yet to decide on what to do with the plane.
Earlier the Captain of the Aircraft Captain Edward Boyo, debunked the rumour going around alleging that the aircraft was missing from officials of the immediate past administration.
Captain Boyo said contrary to the rumor, the plane was taken to Morocco for routine maintenance, which is normal to any aircraft.
He expressed optimism that the aircraft, will be of immense benefit to the people and government of Bauchi State particularly in the area of revenue generation.
