Right after Tuesday night’s episode of WWE SmackDown from Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, general manager Daniel Bryan confirmed on Talking Smack that The Miz and Dolph Ziggler will clash in a career vs. title fight at the No Mercy pay-per-view on Oct. 9 in Sacramento, California.
Ziggler’s challenge stated that he will put his career on the line for a chance to claim the Intercontinental Title against The Miz
The two rivals have a storied history that has been amplified of late.
Not only did The A-Lister defeat Ziggler to retain his Intercontinental Championship at Backlash on Sept. 11, but he followed it up with another successful title defense nine days later at SmackDown.
And as Bleacher Report’s Ryan Dilbert noted, the clash at No Mercy should be a compelling one if Tuesday night’s theatrics were any indication.
According to Geno Mrosko of SB Nation’s Ringside Seats, the No Mercy card now features four fights, including the meeting between the Miz and The Showoff.
The other three, at present, consist of a a WWE World Championship bout between AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose and John Cena, the SmackDown women’s championship between Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch and SmackDown tag team championship featuring Heath Slater and Rhyno against The Usos.
