Royal Majesty, Matthew Ediri
Egbi, Ohwahwa II, has charged
his subjects to remain united,
peaceful and collectively
support the development
programmes of the kingdom.
He gave the advised
shortly after the installation
of Chief Eric Sajini as Otota
(Spokesman) of Ukpedi subclan
in Ughievwen kingdom.
The monarch consecrated
the new Otota Ukpedi in his
Palace, following his selection
by stakeholders in Ukpedi for
the office that had been vacant
for some time.
A former House of
Representatives Member,
Elder PES Ideh, introduced
Sajini to the monarch, adding
that his selection to fill the
vacuum was unanimous being
a deserving Ukpedi son.
Performing the installation,
the monarch said, “By the
powers conferred on me by
God, the Ughievwen people
and the government of Delta
state, I hereby install and
anoint you as Otota of Ukpedi
as elected by the people.
Ukpedi Union will now
function in consultation with
“I solicit the support of all
for you. There cannot be two
leaders. Anywhere you find
a parallel authority in the
kingdom, you are charged to
move against it. I charge you
to be tolerant and liberal in
discharging the duties of the
office, and today marks a big
leap forward in renewing unity
among all in this kingdom.”
The new Otota, Chief
Sajini who also doubles as
Otughievwen executive
chairman expressed joy on
the occasion, pledging to offer
transparent and progressive
leadership in the best interest
of the people.
