Olukere of Ikere land, His Royal Highness, Oba Ayodele Ganiyu Obasoyin, Okomolese II, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently protect Nigerians by addressing challenges posed by herdsmen in the country.
In a press release sent to Nigerian Pilot yesterday by Adetunji King from the palace, the monarch expressed faith in the ability of the president to deliver on his campaign promises.
Oba Okomolese said, “We are all Nigerians. We had lived peacefully together as a people before now. Herdsmen should not put a knife on the cord of love that has kept us as one. If Boko Haram has failed to do it, herdsmen should not be allowed to succeed in that effort. The president can handle the situation. He should just take the needed action, now that he has fully regained his health.”
The monarch who expressed his faith in the president as a man of integrity, who would not compromise, despite mounting pressures, argued that notwithstanding the circumstance in which the president currently works, he maintains his words and would keep to them. .
His said, “We know what president Buhari can do, that is why we all voted for him. There are many of his enemies out there who want him dead. Others who do not want him dead are hoping nothing good will come out of his government. I am sure that God sent him, and he will shock Nigerians with the delivery of the change he promised us.
“For me, he has achieved some feats in his first year in office. Our military is hunting remaining few Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East. We all remember what the situation was in the past administration. Now, most people in the region can sleep with their eyes closed. International organisations that had abandoned the troubled states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe where insurgents had overrun many communities and killed thousands of innocent souls are returning to offer aids to affected communities.
Oba Okomolese II, further appealed to persons who do not see anything good in the present administration to remain calm.
“We cannot expect what has been battered for many decades to be repaired within a year. The international community is already applauding us. He is leading the fight against corruption, even though some say it is a selective fight. All we know today is that he is fighting corruption, and we can all see the dividends. We need more patient, the dividends are coming by and by,” he stressed.
