Resident Priest, St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Kubwa, Reverend Father Bede Okorie, said so much responsibilities are entrusted in women, urging them to use the occasion of Mothers’ Day to reflect on their lives and wake up to the tasks of motherhood.
Okorie, who disclosed this yesterday while celebrating mass for mothering day, reminded them that they are agents of peace and change, and urged them to contribute their individual quota in nation building, especially by building healthy and peaceful homes that would create a peaceful society.
The President, Catholic Women Organisation, CWO, Church of Annunciation, Mrs Chinwe Uba, said mothering Sunday is a wonderful day for women, as they are remembered and celebrated all over the world.
“It is wonderful when mothers are celebrated all over the world. Catholics celebrate their women in a special way. Although this year’s celebration fell during the Lenten period, but Catholics shifted their own to commensurate with the Easter celebration in order to feel the aura of the season.”
She reminded women of their numerous contributions to the growth of the nation, saying children are nurtured by mothers and without the women there would not be procreation and increase.
“Mothers have been given the responsibility of taking care of homes. They nurture future presidents, governors, ministers and when these children are well taken care of there won’t be much problems in the society,” she said
She called on women to persevere in praying for the nation, especially in this difficult time, saying with prayers the country will be revived.
