Two former Liverpool players and currently Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Graeme Souness, believe Jose Mourinho would be the perfect fit at Manchester United and he should be appointed in the summer.

Asked whether Louis van Gaal should be allowed to see out the remainder of his contract at Old Trafford if he wins the FA Cup and qualifies for the Champions League, Carragher told Monday Night Football: “It would have to be an upgrade on Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho is that. The fact he’s available, I’d still do it.”

Souness, however, while acknowledging Mourinho’s managerial qualities, was unsure whether United would appoint Mourinho after sticking with Van Gaal throughout what has been an arduous season at times.
