Benue State Police Command has disclosed the arrest of 14 persons linked to last week’s assassination of a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP chieftain, Chief Atoza Ihindan in Katsina-Ala.
The state police spokesman, ASP Austin Ezeani who disclosed this to newsmen yesterday, said one of those apprehended is reportedly the one who shot and killed Chief Atoza, a woman and her baby.
According to Ezeani, the suspect was arrested with bullet wounds on his leg, adding that an AK47 gun loaded with 128 live ammunitions was also found on him.
“Those arrested are assisting the police with useful information in unraveling the perpetrators of these dastardly acts for prosecution. We are also mopping up arms from those who are not embracing the amnesty programme of the state governor”, Ezeani said.
It could be recalled that the late Ihindan was assassinated while inspecting work on an ongoing fencing of his plot of land.
