Hearing of bail application for 11 bank officials accused of defrauding the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, yesterday suffered a setback due to failure by some of the counsels to file their further counter affidavit, writing addresses and serve the prosecution counsel as directed by the court at the last sitting.
Justice Adeyinka Faji adjourned the hearing of the bail application till June 11 this year.
The Federal High Court sitting in New Adeoyo State Hospital in Ibadan last week Tuesday had ruled that three Central Bank officials, five staff of First Bank and three staff of Wema Bank be remanded in Agodi prison till June 8 this year pending the hearing and determination of their applications for bail.
Justice Faji in the ruling directed that all the accused counsel must file their bail applications on June 3 and serve the prosecution while the prosecution must file the replies by Friday, June 5, and all should come and argue same on June 8.
