The former Commissioner of Information under the immediate past administration, Alhaji Salisu Barau, has explained that the N91billion claimed to have been spent on security from 2007-2015 by Yuguda’s administration is not too expensive.
He was reacting to the allegation made in a release by the APC administration in Bauchi State, signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Yakubu Ibn Muhammad, that the immediate past PDP administration squandered N91billion under security votes.
Alhaji Salisu Barau said every state governor swore with the Holy book to protect lives and property of citizens, therefore spending such amount on security was not exorbitant, saying that it showed the administration had given much priority to security in the state.
“Whatever you spend on security is not too expensive. Previously, the present APC administration claimed that we spent N7billion few months before the end of our administration but now through a statement, they are saying N4billion, so I don’t understand the contradiction. Government advisers are not advising them correctly or they are just saying it to tarnish the image of the previous administration,” he said.
He pointed out that PDP lost in Plateau and Kaduna states during the last general elections, but the governors have concentrated on development projects rather than making noise in the media.
The former commissioner explained that former Governor Isa Yuguda had advised all his aides to contribute meaningfully towards the progress of the state and always to pray for peace and stability in the state.
