National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, yesterday asked the President, Muhammadu Buhari to resign as Minister and appoint a substantive Minister for Petroleum Resources if the nation must overcome the menace of perennial fuel scarcity.
The students’ body also asked the National Economic team headed by the Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, to be more proactive as the problem of hunger and starvation was biting hard on the Nigerian people.
The students’ position was the hub of their protest through major streets of Benin City, the Edo state capital against what they called the tough job of being Commander-in-chief and being Minister.
They said, “President Muhammadu Buhari should immediately resign as the Minister of Petroleum Resources as the road work of being Commander-in-Chief and President is already tasking enough…more hands should be brought in to push the Petroleum sector to higher heights”.
The students featuring NANS- Zone B members drawn from Colleges of Education, Polytechnics and Universities in the south-south geo-political zone of the country, carrying placards with varying inscriptions, said more hands are needed to drive the Petroleum sector and make fuel available to Nigerians.
Complaining that the unending fuel crisis which has seen Nigerians buying a litre for upwards of N280 in many state capitals, they said it has affected cost of transportation and livelihood.

IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, IS IT NOT THE SAME NANS ASSOCIATION WHICH WAS HEAVILY BRIBED BY JONATHAN AND WAS SUPPORTING CLUELESS CORRUPT JONATHAN THROUGHOUT HIS TENURE, UNTIL HE WAS BOOTED OUT FROM ASO ROCK???????

NANS IS ABSOLUTELY A CORRUPT ORGANISATION WITHOUT ANY CREDIBILITY, HONOUR OR INTEGRITY. ANY CALL BY NANS FOR THE RESIGNATION OF BUHARI AS OIL MINISTER, SHOULD THEREFORE BE IGNORED.
