NASARAWA state government yesterday announced its decision to adopt the Treasury Single Accounts, TSA, already operational at the federal level.
State commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Mr Dominic Bako disclosed this while briefing Journalists on the outcome of a meeting with heads of the state-owned tertiary institutions at the Government House, Lafia.
He explained that the meeting which was presided over by the state Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura had set up a technical committee comprising of the state commissioners of finance, education, planning, among others as members, to workout modalities towards smooth implementation of the new policy.
The commissioner further explained that the measure became necessary in view of the dwindling allocation from the federation account, saying that the new policy will help in diversifying the Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, of the state for sustainable development.
He pointed out that Nasarawa, being the pillar state upon which the dream for All Progressives Congress, APC, as a party was formed; it would not be left behind in keying into the federal government policy on TSA.
The commissioner assured that every necessary arrangement would be put in place to ensure that the policy does not affect the smooth administration of the institution, pointing out that the new policy will also affect government ministries, boards and paratatals.
