Nasarawa State House of Assembly has expressed it readiness to partner traditional rulers across the state in order to promote peaceful co-existence among the diverse ethnic,religious and political groups in the state. Speaker of the Assemby, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi made this known on Tuesday in Lafia when Dr.Bala Angbazo,the Aren Eggon of Eggon nation appointed  a member of the Assembly, Mohammed Ibrahim -Alkali(APC- Lafia North) as a member of the Eggon Council of Elders. Balarabe-Abdullahi appreciated Angbazo for recognizing and appointing Ibrahim –Alkali, member representing Lafia North at the state legislature, adding that the gesture was not only a pride to Ibrahim –Alkali but to the entire house. “First and foremost, we are happy that one of our own, Hon. Mohammed Ibrahim –Alkali has been appointed as a member of Eggon Council of Elders which is the highest decision body in Eggon land, we say thank you to the paramount ruler” “The role of traditional rulers in the development of any society especially in the area of peace promotion cannot be overemphacised, that is why, I want to reinstate our commitment to partner the traditional rulers so as to achieve permanent peace in
the state” The speaker reinstated the commitment of the assembly to continue to enact laws that have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state and Nigerians at large. Earlier, Dr.Bala Angbazo,the Aren Eggon while presenting the letter of appointment to Ibrahim – Alkali as member of Eggon Council of Elders said that his appointment was based on his contribution to the development of the Eggon nation in all ramifications. Angbazo, who was represented by Alhaji Sule Anda,the District Head of Alizaga urged the appointee not to relent in his efforts towards contributing the development of the Eggon nation,
the state and the country at large. Responding, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim -Alkali (APC-Lafia North) thanked the paramount ruler of the Eggon nation for the honour and promised to be loyal and support Eggon traditional council at all times. “This appointment will spur me to do more and I want to thank my father, the father of Eggon nation, Dr.Bala Angbazo for the honour,”he said He assured the traditional council of his readiness to continue to offer advice and key in to policies and programmes that have direct impacts on the lives of Eggon nation, state and the nation as a whole.
