Nasarawa State Government yesterday promised to reconstruct a collapsed Federal Government bridge along Abubakar Burga road in Keffi local government area of the state within two weeks.
Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura who disclosed the government’s plan when he conducted an on-the-spot inspection of the bridge, appealed to the people of Keffi to be patient as government was doing everything possible to fix the collapsed bridge.
“Although this is federal government road, we have to embark on a quick fix to ensure that the road is open to the public as soon as possible.
“We really sympathize with the people but what we are doing will be a long term project because we are expanding the bridge to accommodate dual carriage in future,” he maintained.
Al-Makura restated that his administration would do everything possible to ensure that the people of the state enjoy the dividends of democracy.
He said that the state government was seriously worried by the hardship being experienced by the people as a result of the collapsed bridge which he said had cut off the city into two.
