PEOPLES Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the just concluded governorship election in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Yusuf Agabi has declared that his loyalty to PDP remained unshaken as he strongly believed in the ideals of his party despite losing at the polls.
The declaration is against speculations in some quarters that he had switched camp to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Agabi, who made the assertion yesterday in a telephone interview with Nigerian Pilot, described his rumoured defection to APC as the handiwork of mischief makers, insisting that he had no reason whatsoever to abandon his party for any other platform.
“I am a committed, loyal and dedicated member of our great party, the PDP; so I will be the last person to leave PDP. I cannot just dump my party because it lost election but rather remain in the party to help build it for greater performance in future elections, because I believe in the politics of ideology.”
The PDP governorship candidate, who equated the show of sportsmanship exhibited by President Goodluck Jonathan by conceding defeat to that of Jesus Christ who died for the salvation of mankind, expressed delight that the act had earned the president a global recognition.
He pointed that as a democrat and lover of peace who believed in the unity and progress of the people of Nasarawa State, he had emulated the nations president by congratulating candidate of APC and winner of the April 11 governorship election, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
