PARAMOUNT ruler of Keana Chiefdom and chairman of Keana Local Government Traditional Rulers Council in Nasarawa State, His Royal Majesty, Emmanuel Elayo has called on security agencies in the state to join forces to ensure the arrest and immediate prosecution of killers of over 20 Tiv villagers in his domain last weekend.
He made the call yesterday in his palace in Keana, headquarters of Keana Local Government Area, during a peace and security meeting with leaders of the various ethnic nationalities and other stakeholders in his domain.
The traditional ruler regretted that in spite of the security measures put in place by the state government and his emirate council to curb criminal activities, some heartless individuals were still bent on disrupting peace in the area.
“Let me make it clear to the Fulani herdsmen that they should not think because Nigerians solicited for change, it will be an avenue to beat or kill people anyhow because nobody is above the law.”
Chairman of Keana Local Government Council, Mustapha Eladoga appealed to the Tiv community to forgive and forget, vowing to deal with anyone or group of persons found fomenting trouble, even as he called on the law enforcement agencies to investigate the killings with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
In their separate remarks, representatives of Tiv and Fulani communities, Mr. Hycinth Jime and Alhaji Adamu Yamani promised to cooperate with concerned authorities towards the restoration of peace in the area.
