CHAIRMAN of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Honourable Francis Orogu has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to be fair to all political parties in the forthcoming bye election for Nasarawa/Toto federal constituency of the state.
Orogu who made the appeal when he led other members of his exco on a courtesy visit to INEC in the state, noted that the party was not asking for any special favour from the electoral umpire rather than a level playing ground for all the political parties participating in the election.
He said that the PDP was deeply rooted in the state despite the loss of the governorship election hence the provision of level playing ground by INEC in any future election in the state will give his party the desired and overwhelming victory.
Responding on behalf of INEC commissioner, state administrative secretary of the commission, Dr. Mustapha Mudashiru congratulated the state PDP chairman for his recent emergence as the new PDP chairman and assured that the commission would carry out its assignment with all sense of neutrality.
“I want to assure you that INEC in Nasarawa state is committed to ensuring free fair and credible bye election in Nasarawa/Toto federal constituency”
He called on the party to support the commission by ensuring substantial compliance with the electoral guidelines in order to achieve success.
The chairman had earlier paid similar visit to the state commissioner of police, Bashir Lawal where he appealed for adequate security to be provided for members of all the political parties participating in the election.
