AUTHORITIES of the Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia, have stated that arrangements have reached advanced stage by the institution to establish a radio station for its mass communication department to start transmission on its campus.
Rector of the institution, Associate Professor Silas Gyar, who disclosed this yesterday in an address at the 15thmatriculation ceremony of the polytechnic for the 2015/2016 academic session held at the Polytechnic’s premises in Lafia, the state capital.
Gyar pointed out that the polytechnic has state-of-the-art equipment as well as competent manpower to make the project a reality, stressing that the mass communication department was ready for accreditation by the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE.
“We have been working round the clock to secure broadcast license, so that the mass communication department will start transmission on Naspoly Broadcast Service on campus very soon.”
The rector informed that Higer National Diploma graduates of computer science department of the polytechnic were being mobilized for National Youth Service Corp, NYSC, scheme.
Nigerian Pilot reports that highpoint of the ceremony was the administration of matriculation oath to the 2,107 students which 2,046 of the matriculated students were National Diploma, while 61 students were for Higher National Diploma, programmes.
