The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last election, Umaru Nasco, has urged Nigerians to continue to pray for peace and development in the country.
Nasko, who spoke through a release from his media office in Minna, said “with the end of Ramadan it is time for Eid-el-fitr, and just like I have urged us to be steadfast in prayers during the Ramadan, I still urge us to continue with the prayers as the challenges before us are still enormous, evena though we are hopeful they will be surmounted”
He said no nation develops in an atmosphere of violence and hostilities, rather they go deeper in poverty and under- development, for which the weak, women and children are the worst hit, Nigeria cannot and will not afford that.
It is my believe that authorities will re-strategize using the carrot and stick model to resolve the imbroglio.
Meantime, I also use this period to call on restive youth across the country to embrace peace, shun violence, withdraw from extremism, learn skills, get education, be law abiding and ensure they participate actively in civic activities of their communities, only through these can the nation move forward. He added.
Alhaji Umar Nasko who also doubles as the Jarman Kontagora, then said he wished all Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-el-Fitr celebrations and enjoined all to abide by the lessons of the Ramadan period.
He said “The lessons of the Ramadan are not just for Ramadan, but the whole year round, give charity, spread good tidings and live in peace and harmony with one another” the statement added.
