offices, some All Progressives
Congress, APC lawmakers
aspiring for the positions have
resorted to inducing members of
the party’s zoning committee to
influence the zoning of such slots
to their areas.
The aspirants’ actions is
believed to be influenced by
controversy trailing the earlier
zoning arrangement endorsed
by the APC National Working
Committee, NWC.
As soon as the NWC cleared
the arrangement proposed by its
five-man committee, Nigerian
Pilot learnt that some aggrieved
aspirants accused some members
of the committee of being bribed by
unnamed contestants.
The allegations of inducements
came two days to tomorrow’s
meeting of National Executive
Committee in Abuja to ratify the
report of the NWC on the zoning
arrangement for the leadership of
the National Assembly.
The NWC members were accused
of collecting between $50,000 and
$120,000 from some aspirants and
interest groups to endorse the fiveman
committee’s report.
It was learnt that the APC
National Chairman, Chief John
Odigie-Oyegun, who received the
report was not happy with the
exclusion of the South-South from
the principal offices of the National
Odigie-Oyegun had allegedly
shown interest in the Speaker of the
House of Representatives, which
the committee zoned to the South-

for a review of the committee’s
arrangement want the Senate
President to go to the North-East
instead of North-Central proposed
by the panel and the Speaker of the
House of Representatives to remain
in the South-West.
