Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has been nominated for the prestigious GRAND DREAM CHILD AWARD by the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ.
In a letter conveying the nomination to Jonathan, and signed by National President of NAWOJ, Ifeyinwa Omowole, indicated that, former President was considered for the award because of the love shown to women folk by his administration.
“It is on record that Jonathan’s government enforced and even exceeded the Beijing recommendation regarding affirmative action on the empowerment of women in government many years after the Beijing conference,’’ the association noted.
Extolling the virtues of Jonathan and his government, the association added “your administration, more than any other, changed the fortunes of Nigerians, especially the womenfolk which the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists represents.’’
In an acceptance letter signed by his Chief of Staff, Thierry H. Ngoufan, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan thanked the association for the recognition, besides “extends his best wishes and extreme gratitude for the kind words of praise, and also prayed for the success of the event and all other future endeavours of the association.”
