There was no breathing space for the Next Generation Team in one of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) League played over the weekend.

In Abuja the Federal Capital City, Team Offikwu trashed relatively new and young side Next Generation in all the seven matches decided at the Centre Court of the National Stadium, Abuja.

Nigeria’s number one Sylvester Emmanuel put Team Offikwu on the victory path when he beat his opponent Musa Babajo 6/2 6/3 while Favour Moses playing in the female category made it 2-0 for Team Offikwu by overwhelming Joy Sunday 6/2 6/4.

Another former international Henry Atseye made it 3-0 for Team Offikwu recording a two straight win over his opponent while the pair Christain Paul and Sheu Lawal wrapped the meeting up 4-0 on Saturday defeating the pair of Emmanuel/ Joel in the doubles.

The bashing continued on Sunday morning with Christian Paul Sylvanus Ajang 6/4 6/4 while old war horse Shehu Lawal humbled John Dickson 6/3 7/5 to complete the rout.

Speaking after the encounter, Team Offikwu’s Christian Paul said they knew they would overran the young Next Generation team and they just use the match to perfect their strtegies for their next tie against Team Luike in Lagos next Friday.

“The team is relatively young team. I hope they learnt one or two teams by meeting us. With they way I see them, they are the future of Nigerian tennis and I wish them the best,” Christian explained.
