NDDC Contracts: Transparency Advocacy absolve Sen. Nwaoboshi

Transparency Advocacy for Development Initiative, TADI, has said that there was no link traceable to Senator Peter Nwaoboshi on any of the alleged contract scams at the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

In a statement signed by the Executive Director, TADI,  Amb. Yomi David, and made available to Journalist in Abuja, he said having followed the events keenly and after its due diligence investigation, it was discovered that the Senator had no link whatsoever with the issue.

Speaking further, he described the claims as being unfounded and baseless, just as he commended the Senate Adhoc Investigative Panel for not being distracted by any antics to indict him, even as they ordered the NDDC IMC to refund the huge sums of money misappropriated and fraudulently obtained by them.

It would be recalled that Senator Godswill Akpabio at a public investigation hearing organised by the National Assembly, Abuja, to scrutinize financial misappropriation at NDDC a few months ago alleged that some members of both arms of the National Assembly were given or awarded contracts projects to develop the Niger Delta areas by the NDDC.

However, David said that the Niger Delta region has been suffering immense neglect, as the region cannot point to any laudable achievement over the years.

He stressed that removal of NDDC from the supervision of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, would reposition the commission to carry out the mandate of meaningful development of the Niger Delta Region would ensure lasting peace in the region.
