NATIONAL Directorate of Employment, NDE in Nasarawa state has trained 50 unemployed graduates on entrepreneurial skills under its Entrepreneur and Finance Counselling Clinic, NDE-EFCC programme.
Director-General of the agency, Mr. Kunle Obayan, who disclosed this at the opening of an 8-day training programme in Lafia yesterday, explained that the gesture was aimed at making the unemployed graduates self reliant so as to enable them contribute their quota to nation building.
Obayan, who was represented by the state NDE coordinator, Idris Wase, noted that the agency deemed it necessary to train the unemployed youths on how to discover their entrepreneurial potentials to enable them build themselves and the society in general.
According to him, the concept of the NDE-EFCC was borne out of the agency’s desire to ensure that unemployed graduates of tertiary institutions were exposed to the benefit of self reliance through entrepreneurship.
“NDE came into existence in 1986, saddled with the responsibilities of training people, especially the youths and women in different skills acquisition programmes in the country in order to be self reliant and to contribute their quota to national development.
“There is high rate of unemployment in which the situation has degenerated to anti-social activities such as violent crimes, insecurity, armed robbery, drug and human trafficking among others.
“They would also be tutored on how to write a good feasibility study report among others, to enable you to be self reliant and to contribute your quota to national development,” Obayan said.
He urged the participants to use the knowledge gained to employ others so as to boost the socio-economic development of the country.
