Niger Delta leaders have condemned the allegation of fraud leveled against the member representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency, Nicholas Mutu.
A civil society group had alleged that over 67 contracts were executed by companies owned by Mutu in the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
But, the Niger Delta leaders at a meeting on Saturday at Bomadi, Delta State, said “it was not possible for Mutu alone to have awarded to himself over 67 contracts as alleged by the group,” adding that it was being sponsored to tarnish the good image of Mutu, whom we are well pleased.
General Francis Muturu, who spoke on behalf of the leaders, pointed out that “hard work, competence and diligence made Mutu to retain the position of Chairman, House Committee on NDDC, for 12 years and such a person should be commended for doing a good job.
“We returned Mutu to the House for a fifth term because he has done a lot for the people and communities in the region. Therefore, sponsoring false allegations against him is only a fruitless and wasteful mission.
