Managing Director and Chief Executive, MD/CE of Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC, Alhaji Umaru Ibrahim has reiterated the need to reduce the phenomenon of staff casual employments in the banking sector.

While responding, Jaiz Bank MD said the bank was not unmindful of the negative consequences of the trend. He disclosed that majority of its five hundred workforce were permanent staff, adding that the bank only out sourced a few aspects of its workforce such as security staff and cleaners to enable it concentrate on its core operations.
It would be recalled that during the 327th meeting of Bankers’ Committee held at the headquarters of the CBN in Abuja, the apex bank and the Committee noted that it was working on how to reduce the level of job losses in the sector, although there would always be reasons why people would have to be sacked from their workplaces.
It explained that while the decision to sack bank workers had elicited a lot of sentiments from both the public and private sectors of the economy, the banks understood the implications of having to relieve workers of their jobs in view of the current economic situation in the country.
