President, Ohaneze Ndigbo Abuja chapter, Chief Odozi Nwodozi has said that today’s celebration of Igbo Day in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, would rejuvenate the culture of the people.
At a pre-event briefing in Abuja, Chief Nwodozi also expressed concern over what he described as “deliberate exclusion of Ndigbo from the present administration, stressing that the appointments made so far is lopsided and did not respect the federal character principle.”
He stated that this year’s Igbo Day celebration would provide a platform to remember the Igbo people who lost their lives during the 30 months bloody civil war which claimed millions of innocent lives.
He praised the unrelenting spirit of his people and called for more unity among Ndigbo.
“At a time like this, we are expected to bond for cohesion,” he said.
A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, is expected to chair the gala night while former Ebonyi State governor, Dr. Sam Egwu will preside over the Igbo Day and Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa will serve as the chief host.
