Enforcement Agency, NDLEA,
in Bayelsa State has arrested two
youths for illegal possession of
arms along Mbiama Community,
Rivers State.
Briefing newsman in Yenagoa,
the State Commander, NDLEA,
Abdullahi Abdul, said the
suspects were apprehended by a
motorised patrol team on routine
He said one AK 47 automatic
rifle and one English made
double barrel pump action were
recovered from the suspects.
NDLEA said the suspects
were nabbed last Friday while
smuggling arms from Ughelli,
Delta State, to Rivers State for a
fee of N50,000 from a paymaster
who is now at large.
He insisted that the suspects will
be transferred to the appropriate
agency for further action after
preliminary investigations have
been concluded.

arrested 77 illicit drug suspects
from the month of October till

The state commander said
amongst the suspects was 54
male adults and 23 females.
Abdul said 124.342kg of
different types of illicit drugs
were recovered from them.
He decried the abuse of
psychotropic substances in the
state such as tramadol, codeine,
diazepam among others.
The commander declared that
the increase in crime in the state
was caused by the abuse of illicit
drugs by youths.
The NDLEA boss called on the
state government to assist the
command with logistics such as
vehicles and boats to enable them
fight the war against illicit drugs
in rural communities.
Abdul said the provision of
logistics will reduce the spate of
crimes, killings, armed robberies
and other violent crimes.

parents to always advise their
children on the dangers of taking
illicit drugs, even as he urged
traditional rulers and churches to
preach against the use of illegal
