NATIONAL chairman of the National
Democratic Liberty Party, NDLP, Alhaji
Muhammadu Umaru Maizabura has
called on Nigerians to dump elite’s
political parties which have been looting
the nation’s resources since the inception
of democracy in 1999 and join NDLP,
which he said was a masses oriented party.
Maizabura, who was also a presidential
aspirant on the platform of the defunct
Social Democratic Party, SDP, made the
call in Maiduguri yesterday, saying the
All Progressives Congress, APC, and
People Democratic Party, PDP, had failed
Nigerians and called on the citizens to join
the NDLP for better services to the masses.
“This party was created purposely for
the masses, as we realised that the elite’s
parties have failed Nigerians. The elites
are doing nothing than to steal and loot the
nation’s resources.
“This party which has its presence across
the 36 states and FCT is going to provide a
better candidates to the Nigerian masses at
all levels. This party belong to the masses
and will be driven by the masses,” he said.
According to him, since the demise of the
nation’s founding fathers like, successive
politicians have failed the nation.
While frowning at the level of corruption
going on in this administration, Maizabura
called on President Muhammadu Buhari to
contest on his party platform as, according
to him, Buhari is a good man but was
surrounded by thieves and corrupt people
who will not allow working for the people
and fighting corruption.
He stated that the party was going
to focus on security, education, health,
agriculture, youth empowerment and
poverty alleviation.
While speaking on the just concluded
Anambra gubernatorial election,
the national chairman commended
the Independent National Electoral
Commission, INEC, for conducting a free
and fair election and called on the electoral
body to replicate this in the 2019 general
