Staff of New Partnership for Africa’s Development, NEPAD, yesterday has staged a demonstration following the re-appointment of Ambassador Felicia Njeze as Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the Agency.
The workers who closed the Headquarters of the Agency in Abuja with placards with inscriptions, some of them read; “Njeze must go”, “Njeze forged appointment letter” maintained that Amb. Njeze is not capable of heading NEPAD Nigeria office, describing her letter of appointment as dubious, forgery and criminal.
“Amb. Njeze is not capable of heading NEPAD Nigeria office. She was appointed as the special adviser to the President on NEPAD by the former president on the expiration of Jonathan tenure, madam brought in another letter of appointment from the same government that dissolved ministers and special advisers on the same day that she was dissolved, who gave her that appointment”?
When Nigerian Pilot arrived at the venue, tension has reduced as the workers were seen in groups discussion the issue at hand. One of them who simply identify himself as Prince Uche stated that they are protesting because the CEO went and forged an appointment letter signed by the former SGF, so they want her to hand-over just like any other person who served under former administration had done.
“The bone of contention is that the former SGF Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim appointed her as SA for NEPAD under Buhari administration. She served as SA NEPAD under President Jonathan but she came back from the back door on 28th of May, presenting a letter that SGF has reappointed her as SA NEPAD under Buhari which is not in line with law.
“And we see that letter as forgery dubious and criminal, we can’t bear it. We want the government to reverse and cancel the letter because it is against the law. No minister or special adviser under Jonathan is still functioning, we want president Buhari to appoint special adviser to the president on NEPAD for us”.
President of the union however disclosed that the struggle will continue today as they cannot rest until their mission is achieved.
