John Enenche has called on
media practitioners to consider
national interest above any other
General Enenche, who made
the appeal during his maiden
media parley with defence
correspondents in Abuja
yesterday, stressed that negative
reportage of national security,
would do Nigeria more harm
than good.
He stated further that the
Armed Forces of Nigeria, AFN
is the backbone of the corporate
existence of Nigeria and it has
the responsibility to protect the
territorial integrity of Nigeria,
even as he assured a harmonious
working relationship with the
He stated, “Let us have
national interest at heart, which
is to remain as corporate Nigeria
where peace and tranquillity
reigns. As a military, our duty
is to protect the territorial
integrity of Nigeria and we are
the backbone of the corporate
existence of Nigeria. Above all,
the Armed Forces of Nigeria
have total loyalty to the federal
republic of Nigeria.
He however assured that
the media is not gagging the
media stating that, “without
prejudice, we most tell the truth
all the times. We, as a military, are
always, almost on the right side
of doing things.
General Enenche admonished
the media to see itself as partners
with the Nigerian military in
building a corporate Nigeria, stating that apart from the
three spheres of warfare
namely land, marine and air
warfare, media warfare is
another dangerous war that an
enemy can use to disintegrate
a nation.
“Whatever the media
say whether in print or
electronic, will have influence
on everybody including
the military, it is also called
propaganda. So, media is
another field of confrontation.
Let us use our own field to
help build Nigeria.
