New Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, yesterday resumed duty in Kogi state to conduct State Assembly election.
The new REC, Professor Jacob Shekwanudu Jatau was moved from Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja to the state.
Prof. Jatau replaced Alhaji Hussain Halilu Pai, who was transferred to Kano state after the Presidential and National Assembly election because of the death of the Kano REC, Mukaila Abdullai, in a fire disaster.
While addressing journalists in Lokoja, the REC dispelled the allegation of rigging being peddled by members of APC in the state, saying, the commission is out to conduct free, fair and credible election.
He assured all parties that the commission will be fair to all, stressing that preparation for the April 11 election has reached an advanced state.
He warned the electorate that result from polling units where violence take place would be cancelled.
It would be recalled that the All Progressives Congress had last Monday accused the People Democratic Party of planning to rig the April 11 election in the state in favour of PDP candidates.
