New Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Abdulmajid Ali has warned hoodlums and miscreants in the state to relocate or face the wrath of the law.
The CP, who resumed at his office in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, yesterday, also assured that the spate of cultism in Ijebu-Ode area would be dealt with.
Ali, who arrived the headquarters of the command around 12 noon, inspected the guard of honour mounted for him and immediately went into the commissioner’s office where the outgoing commissioner, Van Ntomchukwu was waiting to receive him.
The two commissioners immediately went into a private session which lasted for about 30 minutes before the proper handing over witnessed by journalists and other senior officers of the command.
While speaking with senior officers at the secretariat of Police Officers Wives Association within the command, the new Police Commissioner advised the officers to step up their games.
He charged the officers to always continue to obey the rule of law in their activities, adding that policing had gone scientific and the officers must step up to that.
On the issue of bail, the commissioner explained that officers must stick to ethics and rule of the police, adding that his administration would frown at act of corruption.
He said, “You know I am not new to this terrain, I have received the hand over note and I have been briefed about the issue of crime in the state.
“We have to step up our game; all officers must obey the rule of the law while the issue of bail must be handled with ethics because this administration will not condone corruption.
“We must be professional; police must change to be humble. Policing has gone scientific and that is why we must all focus on intelligent policing.
“And to the people of the state, a new commissioner has taken over and I will ensure that the people of the state sleep with their two eyes closed. And for the miscreants, you’re advised to relocate from Ogun State or you will be dealt with decisively. Cultism in Ijebu-Ode would also be dealt with seriously.”
Ali was the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of administration in Ogun State until his promotion to the rank of commissioner and moved to Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he oversaw the anti-bomb section.
