Member representing Kano South senatorial district under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Kabiru Gaya yesterday said President Muhammadu Buhari’s choice of service chiefs was an indication that the country’s fight against the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents was not hopeless.
Senator Gaya said that the calibre of officers appointed service chiefs by the president and their track records were indication that there was hope of the country winning the fight against insurgency.
The senator in a statement signed by his media adviser, Prince Idris Afegbua and made available to newsmen in Kaduna, lauded President Buhari on the appointment of the new service chiefs with the aim of repositioning the armed forces to effectively tackle the security challenges confronting the nation.
He added that it was one of the cardinal promises of the president at the 2015 general elections, adding that the recent upsurge of bombings and other attacks in the country called for security beef-up to effectively deliver on his campaign promises.
Senator Gaya enjoined Nigerians to cooperate with the security agencies in the country to rid the country of insecurity as security matters are for all.
The former Kano State governor appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the government as the president was passionate about bringing positive changes that would have a lasting positive effect on the citizenry.
The senator also congratulated Muslim faithful for the completion of the Ramadan fast and also used the occasion to appeal to them to continue to pray for the administration of President Buhari for wisdom to pilot the affairs of the nation and for peace to reign in the country.
