…as players storm camp this week
As part of efforts geared towards calming tensed nerves, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick has expressed the federation’s readiness to announce Super Eagles Head Coach in days to come.
Pinnick, who gave the assurance while responding to questions during Senate Public hearing in Abuja, hinted that the contract renewal took so much time due to their resolve to follow due process.
According to him, “When I got elected, I went through a lot of documentation in the association and I came to the understanding that in the past, coaches were employed and some issues were not sorted.
“I ensure all the committees that have to do with the employment of the coaches met to chart the right course. This is so because we do not want any controversial issues after the appointment is made.
“The issues have been looked into and the contract is now forwarded to Keshi about a week ago. I have directed that a reminder be sent to him because we cannot keep waiting for his response.”
On the condition of the team, Pinnick said, “we have two international friendly matches against Bolivia on March 26 in Uyo and against South Africa on March 29. We also have Nations Cup qualifier coming up, CHAN qualifiers and these are critical tournaments we cannot afford to miss.
“So, I can assure you that, within the next ten days at most, we should be able to make a pronouncement on this matter.
“The agreed package was done, taking into account the country’s economic reality, against the backdrop of fall in the international crude oil price.
“I told my colleagues in the football house that it will be wise to look at how much we can pay in relation to what we will get from the allocation.”
