New executive secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, Professor Usman Yusuf has promised to use a virile Information and Communication Technology, ICT, centre to actualise the Universal Health Coverage for Nigerians.
According to a press release signed by Ayo Osinlu, head of Media and Public Relations Department of the scheme, Professor Yusuf made the promise during a courtesy call on the management of the Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd, NIGCOMSAT, in Abuja, recently.
He said, “A solid ICT platform offers the opportunity to curtail corruption, as every kobo spent can be accurately traced and ascertained for accountability.”
He therefore said his visit to NIGCOMSAT was to explore areas in which the organisation could help the scheme move health insurance in the country forward.

so an ICT would facilitate viable, empirical and reliable data that could be relied upon globally.
Acting chief executive of NIGCOMSAT, Ms. Abimbola Alale assured the NHIS boss that the organisation had all it takes to provide the ICT needs of the scheme, adding that NIGCOMSAT had competent engineers who would provide service and impact valuable knowledge to the staff of the scheme in the process.
