Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Niger State, Barrister Tanko Beji, has flayed the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for witch-hunting its members using a ‘secret committee’ which includes security agents.
Beji made the disclosure yesterday in Minna while speaking to our correspondent after a stakeholders meeting at its secretariat.
He said the present administration under Abubakar Sani Bello is witch- hunting his predecessor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, secretly.
“There are procedures for investigation but not through a secret committee, they are afraid, we are waiting for their antics,” he said.
The deputy chairman insisted that the APC government is complaining that money is missing instead of embarking on meaningful projects.
“The APC government has not achieved anything in the state since they came on board, but is making all kinds of frivolous excuses, we are also keeping records that would be used after his exit,” he added.
He noted that the meeting was to boost the morale of PDP candidates in the forthcoming local government elections and urged them to be confident as the ruling party has nothing to show rather than untold hardship.
Beji assured that the PDP was fully prepared and ready for the local government elections even before it was rescheduled for January 16, 2016.
The party’s Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Saba, who intimated that the State Independent Electoral Commission would hold a meeting with political parties on January 6, 2016, said the forum will show how prepared the commission is towards the conduct of the election.
On the party’s case against the state government and the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission, NSIEC, Beji said he wouldn’t make any comments because the case was before a court.
