Niger South Youth Forum has blamed the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the violation and abuse of procedures at the just concluded local government primary elections.
This was contained in a petition written to the party secretariat and made available to our correspondent in Minna, at the weekend.
The petition which was signed by its President, Mohammed Alhaji Katcha, accused the APC of masterminding the destabilisation of the party in the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
The Forum accused the party of allegedly collecting between N100,000 and N200,000 from councillorship aspirants from the zone, while chairmanship aspirants paid between N10 million and N15 million as wavier.
Katcha expressed fear that if no action is taken by the administration of Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, “the APC might suffer a great setback in the forthcoming local government election, just as the imposition of candidates were alleged to be from above,” he said.
He emphasized that the problem was because some of the wards, local and state executives wanted to achieve political gains, while making instances of Lanle and Busu wards in Lavun and Gbako Local Governments. He condemned the role played by the state party secretary as the preferred candidates of the majority were victimised.
But in a swift reaction, the APC state Secretary, Barrister Mohammed Liman, debunked the allegations, saying the party gave wavier to aspirants who applied through their wards without any payment.
