Nigerian Breweries Plc yesterday in Makurdi, Benue State capital, announced the re-launching of More Lager Beer, an alcoholic beverage initially produced by the Benue State government in 1982.
This was disclosed by the Corporate Affairs Adviser of the company, Kufre Ekanem, who also disclosed that the company has upgraded the Makurdi brewery to deliver stakeholders’ expectation following the merger with Consolidated Breweries Plc.
“This upgrade has led to the enhancement of the brewery’s infrastructure and production process which is evident in the improved quality of More Lager Beer that offers our customers a new taste experience. Today’s More Lager Beer is specially brewed to give it that special aroma and taste that is uniquely Benue.
“As the brewery responsible for brewing More Lager Beer, a brand wholly produced with locally sourced raw materials, this investment totalling over N1 billion for 2015 alone, highlights our confidence in the fundamentals of the local economy to provide an enabling macroeconomic environment for business to thrive,” Ekanem said.
Ekanem further said the Makurdi brewery and its ancillary industries would impart on the economy of Benue and its neighbouring states through employment, increase non-oil revenue generation to different tiers of government and as well contribute to improved standard of living in the area.
He said the company has built a block of six classrooms and a library furnished with tables and chairs at NKST Primary School, Angwar, Gboko and a block of three classrooms and an office at NKST primary school, Agbaikyor Fidi, Makurdi.
